Lafayette Colorado is just East of Boulder and Louisville. Its growth since 1996 is evident as your travel through the small town. A small mining village is still seen in the downtown area with the historic "miner's museum". Lafayette's downtown has a mixture of older homes and newer developments surrounding the downtown area. These newer developments have accounted for the incredible growth within the town limits. Home to some new "box" stores, Lafayette has a financially strong tax base from with to draw. Its new state of the art police station is next to the new fire station and the rec center just outside the downtown area.
Lafayette is home to the nationally recognized Oatmeal Festival in January each year. It also hosts the Peach Festival and the Wine Festival. Lafayette has a wonderful outdoor venue called Waneka Lake with magnificent mountain views reflecting off the lake. Its paddle boats, new playground, exercise stations, cook out area and paths make this a wonderful venue for the whole family. Summertime brings outdoor concerts to Waneka Lake for family picnics with live local music!
